American Capital Mortgage Investment is a a real estate investment trust. Co. invests in, finances and manages a portfolio of mortgage-related investments, which Co. defines to include agency mortgage investments, non-agency mortgage investments and other mortgage-related investments. Agency mortgage investments include residential mortgage pass-through certificates and collateralized mortgage obligations structured from residential mortgage pass-through certificates for which the principal and interest payments are guaranteed by a government-sponsored entity. Non-agency mortgage investments include residential mortgage-backed securities backed by residential mortgages.
