Nexen is an energy company. Co.'s three operating segments are: Oil and Gas, which includes exploring, developing and producing crude oil, natural gas and related products; Energy Marketing, which sells crude oil and natural gas, markets third-party crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids and power; and Chemicals, which manufacture, market and distributes industrial chemicals, principally sodium chlorate, chlorine, muriatic acid and caustic soda. At Dec 31 2010, Co. had 987 barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) of proved reserves (918 mmboe after royalties) and 1,133.0 mmboe of probable reserves (995 mmboe after royalties).
