SunTrust Banks is a financial services holding company. Through its subsidiary, SunTrust Bank, Co. provides a line of financial services for consumers and businesses including deposit, credit, and trust and investment services. Additional subsidiaries provide mortgage banking, asset management, securities brokerage, and capital market services. Co. also provides a range of banking channels, including the internet, automated teller machines, and telebanking. Co. operates primarily in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. At Dec 31 2012, Co. had total assets of $173.44 billion and total deposits of $132.32 billion.
