BlackRock Municipal Income Trust is a closed-end management investment company. The Trust investment objective is to provide current income exempt from regular United States federal income tax. The Trust seeks to attain its investment objective by investing primarily in municipal bonds that pay interest that is exempt from United States federal income taxes. The Trust invests, under normal market conditions, at least 80% of its assets in municipal bonds that are investment grade, or if unrated, deemed to be of comparable quality by the investment adviser, at the time of investment. The Trust may invest directly in such securities or synthetically through the use of derivatives.
