MFS Government Markets Income Trust is a closed-end fund. The fund's investment objective is to seek high current income, but may also consider capital appreciation. The Fund's investment adviser, Massachusetts Financial Services Company (MFS) invests at least 80% of the Fund's net assets, including borrowings for investment purposes, in United States and foreign government securities. MFS may invest the Fund's assets in other types of debt instruments. MFS invests substantially all of the fund's assets in investment grade debt instruments.
